Shades of Mort'ton
Difficulty level: Easy, Members only
Reward: 3 Quest Points, 2000 Herblore experience, 2000 Crafting experience.
You can get extra Herblore experience (about 335) if you use the diary on the apothecary in
Varrock.
Skills Needed: Level 15 Herblore, 20 Crafting, able to kill a level 40
monster.
Items Needed: Any Hatchet, a Tinderbox, a few (min. 2) unfinished Tarromin
potions, around 10000 gp.
Starting Location: City Mort'ton, in the southern part of the Mort Myre swamps.
- Make sure you have at least 8 free places in your inventory. Find the town
Mort'ton in the southern part of the Mort Myre
swamps (just go along the winding path).
- Locate the house with a broken table (south-west in the town).
Search the table and keep the herbs you find. Search the shelf, and read to the
end the diary of Herbi Flax from there. You should now have started the quest.
- Mix a
Tarromin unfinished potion with some ashes (burn a log) to get Serum 207. Use this on the Shop Keeper (Razmire).
Talk to him and he will tell you to go to the temple north of there and slay 5 shades. The temple is
just to the north-east. Go there and kill 5 Loar shades, pick up their remains and return to
Razmire.
- Talk with Ulsauire Shauncy in the most eastern house to show him the remains as well. Go to Razmire again and buy 2 vials of olive oil and a hammer from the general store, and
2-3 building replies from the building store (Razmire runs both stores).
- Now go to the temple to the North. Find a world with many players at the
temple (usually World 2) and start rebuilding/reinforcing the temple.
When it's ready try to light the flame in the middle of the temple. When the flame in the middle starts to burn, and your sanctity is at
least at 10%, use your olive oil on it, and you should have sacred oil. Use this on a log, and you'll have a
Pyre log.
- Now get a Loar remain. Locate a Funeral Pyre (they are all around), place the pyre logs on
it (use), then the Loan remain, and then use your Tinderbox to light it up. A key should appear on the stone stand near the funeral pyre - pick it up and keep it.
- Go back to Ulsauire and he will reward you.
Permanent Serum:
To get permanent serum -- Serum 207 (p) -- you'll need to use your serum 207 on the flame in the temple. You'll need 20%
sanctity to be able to do it. Use this serum on Ramize and Ulsauire to change
them permanently. They
both will reward you with around 180 gp each.
Keys:
The bronze key you receive is for the doors to the north-west. Here you�ll find a cave with some different
Shades. There are also more doors and chests inside
-- to open these you need to get different keys. Chests contain various weapons
and armor, and, what's most important, Fine Cloths, necessary for
obtaining Magic Armor.
